Cartesian AS delivers scalable and compact thermal energy storage solutions for commercial buildings. Our technology helps reduce heating and cooling operating costs, improves resilience, and strengthens energy supply security. The products are deployed and in commercial operation in multiple European markets. 

 

Cartesian is backed by strong owners and led by an experienced management team. 

The demand for energy storage is growing rapidly, driven by grid constraints, energy security demands, and increasing sustainability requirements. Cartesian is now scaling across Europe, with a clear focus on the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium. We operate through a partner-based go-to-market model and collaborate closely with HVAC system integrators, specifiers, and installers. 

We are now hiring a Chief Sales Officer (CSO) to translate our technical strengths and market insight into a structured international growth journey 

 

 

The role

Cartesian is entering a pivotal growth phase, moving from project-based deliveries to scalable international expansion. As our Chief Sales Officer, you will define and build the company’s commercial platform in Europe—owning strategy, partnerships, and execution—and help shape how Cartesian gains traction in the market.

 

Working closely with the sales team, management, and technical organization, you will establish the partner ecosystem, sales processes, and commercial capabilities needed to enable scalable growth.

 

This role suits a hands-on, yet strategic leader who thrives in a fast-moving scale-up environment. You bring strong human relations skills, sound judgement and a drive to create lasting impact. As our new CSO, you will play a key role in shaping the company, its processes, and your own workday as Cartesian grows.

 

 

Key responsibilities (selection) 

  • Build and lead the commercial team in line with company leadership principles and vision
  • Define and execute Cartesian’s commercial and go-to-market strategy in Europe
  • Build and scale a partner-based sales model through distributors, contractors, installers and energy-as-a-service companies (ESCOs).
  • Identify and develop key strategic partners and hold global account responsibility
  • Be hands-on in sales and partner dialogues, particularly in new markets and early-stage collaborations
  • Drive pipeline development and sales growth with measurable results
  • Establish scalable sales processes, frameworks and tools
  • Travel to Europe for client meetings, fairs and conferences

     

    Our new CSO will ideally be based in a major Norwegian city with convenient access to international travel. Regular presence at our Trondheim office is required to engage closely with the team and gain firsthand insight into daily operations.  

Background and experience 

  • International B2B sales experience with technical solutions—ideally within energy, HVAC, real estate, commercial buildings, or related sectors—preferably through partner and channel-based models
  • Proven track record of building or scaling commercial organizations in scale-ups or small-to-mid-sized companies
  • Strong ability to navigate complex buying processes with multiple stakeholders, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Solid technical understanding and excellent English skills; additional languages are a plus
  • A scale-up mindset and motivation to build commercial structures for long-term growth
